Glorify the King

In His presence

Friday of the Twenty-Seventh Week in Ordinary Time 2026-10-09

Your daily blessing

Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth.

Colossians 3:2

Douay-Rheims

About this Scripture text

Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (public domain Catholic).

God writes straight on the crooked paths of our days.

A moment to return to God.

A word of encouragement

You carry within you the strength of a fortress that no enemy can shake. As the morning light breaks through the darkness, your soul is illuminated by the quiet power of protection that surrounds you.

Take it to heart

Original devotional reflection; this is not a Scripture quotation.

A busy day can hide the difference between what is urgent and what is important. Let today's passage interrupt that confusion for a moment. Which responsibility deserves your best attention, and which demand can wait? Consider your duties, your relationships, and the promises you have made. Not everything can be done at once. Ask for the grace to choose honestly, explain necessary limits kindly, and give one worthwhile task the attention that constant hurry would take away.

Let us pray together

Original prayer

God, help me choose with a clear and generous heart. Teach me to honor real responsibilities without obeying every demand for immediacy. Give me courage to explain my limits kindly and patience to attend well to the person or task entrusted to me now. Amen.

One small step today

Choose one important task or relationship for focused attention today. Set aside fifteen minutes for it and tell someone kindly if another request must wait.

As the day comes to a close

Five moments to look back on your day with God.

  1. You were carried today by a hand larger than your own. Let yourself remember.
  2. Give thanks for what went well. Give thanks too for what did not.
  3. When was God closest? Did you notice Him then?
  4. Ask forgiveness for what was not love. Receive it as a son, not a beggar.
  5. Tomorrow is new. Offer it now, with an open heart.

✝ In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit Amen.
